Martin Riede Head of Intl. Forwarding

Jctrans: Would you please make a brief introduction of your company?

Martin Riede: GRIESHABER Logistik GmbH is a family owned charity FOUNDATION and founded in 1951. Our focus is on International Transportation (Sea freight, Project CARGO, Airfreight, Intl. Road, Train and High & Heavy Transportation, Customs Clearance and Warehousing. We have in total about 700 employees, totally 170.000-sqm Storage place (also temperature controlled for Pharmaceuticals) and about 160 own Trucks in Fleet. We have several branch offices in Germany and Slovenia and can offer services not only in Germany but also in completely central Europe.

Jctrans: Would you please talk about your core-competitiveness?

Martin Riede: As a medium size company, we are able to fulfill the individual needs of our clients. Our employees are all well-educated, trained and have a long-term experience in their working fields. Because we have all our services in-house, like own trucks, own warehouses, own customs broker and packing center. We are not rely on other parties and can work with the GRIESHABER Standards.

Jctrans: What do you think is the most important thing to run a logistics company?

Martin Riede: You need to know the requirements and needs of your customers and employees. There are so many forwarders in our market and you need to be better. You need to provide a better service and prices. However, this is only possible if you know your customers and take good care about your employees. In the same way, you need to have a very good relationship to your suppliers as well.

Jctrans: Would you please talk about the situation of logistic industry in your country?

Martin Riede: After five very successful years, the industry was already not so optimistic for this year. Now in combination with Coronavirus we are afraid the situation will become even worser. All of us have to do everything to make sure that we work very efficient and try to secure as much business as possible.

Jctrans: Would you please talk about your strategy to explore foreign market?

Martin Riede: We have a very diversity strategy. At first, we have a very wide range of different local customers in different industries. In the same way, we are offering a wide range of different services. Combined with a stronger and more efficient sales team we explore not only new market but also grow together with our long term customers. Nevertheless, we also recognize that more and more customers purchase “free house”, so we are also focus on expanding our international network, like becoming member on JCTrans.

Jctrans: What is the reason that makes you become a GCP member to develop your business?

Martin Riede: We have been contacted by our JCtrans Network Manager Yuki Wang end of 2017. At this time we not member of any network and had no interest in joining a network, because we were growing very fast in the market and had no capacities. Yuki was very persistent for several month and after more than a year, we understand the big advantages what a network like JCTrans can offer for a medium size company like us.

Jctrans: How do you maintain a long-term cooperation relationship with your clients?

Martin Riede: We are not a global player like Schenker or K+N. But exactly this is our big advantage. The Global Players mainly work with standardized processes but often this process does not fit to the customers’ requirements and needs. So we are offering tailor made solutions for individual needs.
