    Mr.Sunatha Kasun Deveraja Managing Director

JCtrans: Would you please make a brief introduction of your company?

Mr.Sunatha Kasun Deveraja: ATOLL LOGISTICS PVT LTD established in 2009 and providing the entire logistics solutions including 3PL to our local and international customers. We do represent airline cargo operation agencies as well in Maldives while we have our own Ground Handling team at airport cargo acceptance at Male airport.

We do represent NVOCC operation with moving SOC boxes of our foreign parties. Majority of volumes are imports to Male. Our exports volumes are only chilled fish approxi. 100  tons p/month from Male to EU and USA.

JCtrans: Would you please talk about your core-competitiveness?

Mr.Sunatha Kasun Deveraja: None – exclusivity

JCtrans: What do you think is the most important thing to run a logistics company?
Mr.Sunatha Kasun Deveraja: Logistics is mandatory to current survival of the world. If there is no transportation you can’t survive in this world. All what you consume including medicine is due to logistics. Humans cannot live without logistics. Logistics is an essential need of each human at current world.

JCtrans: Would you please talk about the situation of logistic industry in your country?
Mr.Sunatha Kasun Deveraja: Maldives is suffering with lack of vessel frequency due to a small market surrounded by few islands located in the Middle of Indian Ocean. Only 2-3 weekly feeders available between Colombo to Male port apart of one direct feeder service from Singapore to Male fortnight. 99% import market. Only frozen fish and can tuna & tuna pouches are the only export market apart of ad-hock scrap iron cargo movements to India and Dubai currently. No other commodities exporting in Maldives.

JCtrans: Would you please talk about your strategy to explore foreign market?
Mr.Sunatha Kasun Deveraja: Not much potential to expand the foreign market from Maldives point of view due to less population in Maldives. There is a limited potential for constructional items due to real estate side is booming up to the available land area in Maldives. Maldives Port has only one peer with a Twelve meter draft. Development of cargo movements will be limited until government develop the Maldives port with more space to unload cargo.

No SOC’s can be placed in Maldives as no separate container yards available. All have to be kept at Male port itself. Thus it is not worth to have SOC’s to Male when compare to the cost of demurrage charges.

JCtrans: What is the reason that makes you become a GCP member to develop your business?
Mr.Sunatha Kasun Deveraja: Seeking better rates and more business with import cargoes to Maldives from GCP network.

JCtrans: How do you maintain a long-term cooperation relationship with your clients?
Mr.Sunatha Kasun Deveraja: Through the service levels from all aspects.
