Makaela Cramp Pricing & Marketing Coordinator

JCtrans: Would you please make a brief introduction of your company?

Makaela Cramp: KTL Australia is a well-established freight forwarder with an office in Melbourne with close proximity to Melbourne airport & port. We pride ourselves on the customer service and innovation that we can offer for shipments to all ports in Australia. We have 15 highly skilled staff in our office that are ready to provide a tailored service for your needs.

JCtrans: Would you please talk about your core-competitiveness?

Makaela Cramp: Australia is an importing country and KTL Australia are specialists in this area.
Our core business is FCL Imports, however in recent years we have built a prominent presence for FCL Exports and AIR / LCL services. KTL Australia’s specialty commodities include construction materials from residential to commercial requirements, with particular expertise in handling joinery, fa?ade, pipes and steel.

JCtrans: What do you think is the most important thing to run a logistics company?

Makaela Cramp: It is extremely important to have an enthusiastic team who are motivated to deliver the customer service that clients and agents have learnt to expect from KTL Australia. Our core values are RELIABILITY, FLEXIBILITY & EXPERIENCE, which is ingrained into each process that we undertake.

Secondly, we can never underestimate the value of the tools that help us process our tasks with efficiency. In recent years, KTL Australia has invested in a number of software integrations that work directly with our main operating system, Cargowise. The integrations we have in place, enable us to enhance our customer service and processing times.

JCtrans: Would you please talk about the situation of logistic industry in your country?

Makaela Cramp: Currently the logistics industry in Australia is facing a number of challenges, however we find that when you are aligned with reliable partners, you feel less affects of the challenges.

The current challenges that Australia faces are: industrial action and closures at the main ports, lack of space and equipment for both import & export as the market is unbalanced with more imports than exports and like all other areas of the world the current rates.

JCtrans: Would you please talk about your strategy to explore foreign market?

Makaela Cramp: Our current strategy is to continuously look for opportunities with clients agents and suppliers for a better solution for current and future business. We are also continuously re-assessing the market for any new developments, such as carriers adding capacity via new vessels.

We are also helping clients source their materials from other areas of the world than those that they have relied on in the past by making introductions to different suppliers.

JCtrans: What is the reason that makes you become a GCP member to develop your business?

Makaela Cramp: KTL Australia being a GCP Member has significant benefits to our business with the opportunity to connect with thousands of other reliable agents all in one platform. We have the ability to post freight enquiries that helps our team to get targeted responses from agents who are capable of offering the solution that we are seeking.

JCtrans: How do you maintain a long-term cooperation relationship with your clients?

Makaela Cramp: We consider all of our clients as our family. They are what makes KTL Australia what it is today. We maintain the relationships with consistent and open communication. We have fun along the ride too!
